on the faith of that agreement being fulfilled on the part of the Government, the debts and costs were paid — but notwithstanding such agreement, a claim has been again made as above stated for rent for the four allotments agreed to be resumed.

We beg therefore on the part of Messrs Oswald and White, to call attention to this matter, and shall be obliged by your forwarding instructions to the Colonial Treasurer of the resumption by Government of the said four allotments, as Messrs. Oswald and White are desirous of paying the rent due on the other allotments of Messrs Oswald and White.

Mr. Parker under date 19th writes to the Attorney General that Messrs Oswald & White will pay the rent to June/47, if Govt will resume the lots. The A. G. directs (by endorsement on Mr. P's letter) that the offer of payment be accepted, and the parties told that after payment they must apply to His Excellency the Governor requesting him to resume the land.

I am given to understand that such application was never made, but the rent to [June/4]7 was paid 27th Sept — the lots still remain on the rent roll.

The above mentioned letter of Mr Parker was handed into the Treasury on the 17th February last. On the 9th February last, the Treasury requisition for payment of the rent to Decr /87 ...
